Harmonic Testing
Power quality issues require measuring and interpreting waveforms and many types of loads that can disrupt harmonic currents. Uninterruptable power systems or other data process equipment, can be a culprit, but there are many possible factors. Harmonics are created by electronic equipment with nonlinear loads drawing in current in abrupt short pulses. The short pulses cause distorted current waveforms, which in turn cause harmonic currents to flow back into other parts of the power system.
Comstock Bros. Electric brings what is required to your job. Using the wrong type of meter can affect everything from kVA calculations to conductor sizing, so trust us to handle this for you.
Common problems caused by harmonics:
- Overloading Neutral Conductors
- Overheating Transformers and Increased Associated Losses
- Nuisance Tripping of Circuit Breakers
